The best time to cut your grass in anytime it needs to be cut! Typical cutting season in Central VA is March through November however sometimes December mowing is necessary if grass has not become dormant by then.

WHY AERATE & OVERSEED YOUR LAWN?
Helps reduce weeds – the thicker and healthier your lawn is the less likely you are to have weed growth.
Enhances seed germination – its much easier for new grass to grow in the fresh plug holes the aeration leaves behind, which allows for seed to come into contact with the most fertile soil possible for quick growth.
Improves appearance!! – by aerating and seeding your lawn it will help your lawn mature and have a deeper shade of green coloring which is the most obvious sign of a healthy well established lawn!
WHAT TIME OF YEAR SHOULD YOU AERATE & OVERSEED?
The best time of year to aerate & overseed your lawn is in the fall. In Central VA the fall is the perfect time of year for new grass to thrive because the temperatures aren’t too hot and your lawn will receive the constant watering necessary for growing new grass seed well. After the new seed has rooted it will have all winter to continue rooting underground and by spring it will become active above ground again. Giving new seed 6 months or more to germinate and develop before the hot summer temperatures come is your best bet.
WHAT TYPE OF SEED DOES LHC LAWN SERVICES USE?
Generally we use a tri blend fescue mix that is multi purpose and has proven results in many different yard conditions. We will however asses your lawn individually and may recommend other seed types if necessary.
IRRIGATION PROJECTS OR REPAIR
Proper irrigation is a key element in obtaining and maintaining a vibrant property. We can service your irrigation needs! Whether it’s a system turn on in the spring or winterization in the fall we can help.

Lawn health – managing your leaves promotes a healthy yard by allowing sunlight to shine on your lawn, even when grass is dormant sunlight is a healthy thing for your roots

Once your yard is rid of all fallen leaves each fall it becomes a great place to gather and spend time, many folks add a 2nd yearly application of mulch to their beds this time of year as well to bring the focal point of their yards off of the dormant grass on onto the sharply redefined mulched areas!

Pretty obvious answer her but the best time to manage your leaves in the fall/winter after they have fallen out of the trees. We offer different levels of service in this regard, we will manage your leaves throughout the season and blow them into a margin on your property or we can do a final leaf removal at season’s end where we bring a trailer and haul away the leaves from your property!

There are many reasons why to mulch areas on your property, we want to point out a few of the main ones!

There is no wrong time of year to mulch, the best time to mulch is whenever mulch is needed! That being said our most popular mulching season is the Springtime, as your yard wakes up from winter hibernation a fresh application of mulch gives your yard the jump start it may need to get in tip top shape by summer!
WHAT TYPE OF MULCH DOES LHC LAWN SERVICES USE?
We use the highest quality of mulch you can get! A triple shredded dyed mulch that discourages mold growth. It is environment friendly and keeps its color longer than a lesser quality mulch would!

One of the most common a la carte jobs we perform is a property cleanup. Whether it’s after a big storm, coming out of the winter season, or just if you haven’t been able to spruce up your property the way you would like we are here to help! We specialize in refreshing your property by removing debris piles, small trees, dead or overgrown shrubs/bushes.
We also are willing to remove small structures like fences, sheds, play sets etc. Most cleanups can be done in a day or less, bigger yards may take longer depending on the work needed but we are up for any job!
